Wood workshop- and inspiration trip to Morjhult.

P O S T went on a work shop- and inspirations trip to Morjhult to explore and get to know the firewood. We chopped, stacked and burned. We also went for long walks in the forest to find the spirit of wood.

A neo-romantic pavilion at the intersection of poetry and architecture

All art and literature movements are doomed to return. Some do it more than others. The more complex and multifaceted one movement and the more grass-roots support, the better chance of returning. Romanticism is one of the movements who keep coming back. Almost every era has its romanticism. We've felt romantic winds blow and with a neo-romantic approach we've started our journey towards graduation. During our time at Architecture we´ve missed working with hands on-projects, to have an idea and execute it all the way. No we want to try this in our Master Thesis and we have decided to make a smaller building which we will have the time to execute. It will be a project where we work with materiality and spatiality in a smaller scale with a poetic focus. The building will be in the intersection of poetry and architecture. We investigate the evanescence of time, interactivity and our own ability to prosecute an idea. Having the destructible and self detonating as our starting point and inspiration, we have decided to make a pavilion that is disposable for visitors during a limited time. The facade of the pavilion will consist of firewood. In the heart of the pavilion there will be a fire place. The visitors pick firewood from the facade to maintain the fire giving the facade an ever changing expression. When the facade has run out of firewood and the fire is extinct the project is either finished or can be built up again.

P O S T have made a proposal for a new prison in the city center of Gothenburg suggesting that architecture can be a helping tool in the rehabilitation of prisoners. And that a central location of the prison can help the prisoners get in contact with the society and vice versa, creating a mutual trust between the citizens and the prisoners.
In the Swedish Prison and Probation Service today it is the actual deprivation of liberty and NOT the prison operations that make the punishment. Instead the time in prison should be used to reduce the risk of re-offending by creating opportunities for the prisoners to abstain from criminal life once out of prison. The prisons in Sweden are divided in security classifications from A-F, where the closed prisons being classified from A-E and the open prisons make up class F.
With this in mind we have created a class D prison in the city center of Gothenburg.

Gothenburg is facing a big challenge. The sea level will rise with several meters. This will affect the future city planning and where we have to come up with new solutions. We made a short film regarding this issue.
